Golden Milk/Turmeric Tea
What better way to warm up during a snowstorm than with the a warm drink that is beneficial to both your body and brain? Turmeric contains curcumin, which has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties, aid in digestion, and promote memory and brain function! This may seem like an usual combination of spices, but it actually tastes good! (And the black pepper helps the body absorb the turmeric.)
1 cup (2.5 dL) milk of choice
1/2 tsp turmeric powder*
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp sweetener, optional (honey, maple syrup for vegan)
Pinch black pepper
Pinch ground ginger
Pinch cayenne pepper
Blend all ingredients in a blender until smooth and frothy. Add to a small saucepan and heat (don’t let boil) for 3-5 minutes over medium heat. Drink immediately!
*Warning: turmeric can stain cups/glasses/kitchen tools.
