Raw Chocolate-Orange Brownies (raw, paleo, grain free, dairy free, vegan, sugar free)
Makes 16 brownies
Orange you glad it’s another healthier dessert? I call these brownies and a dessert instead of a snack because of the large amount of dates (aka sugar). More nutritious, clean, and filling than a normal brownie, but definitely still a treat if you’re eating low carb/low sugar. I take one with me to enjoy immediately after a tough workout to refuel my carbs and protein (from the nuts).
1 1/2 cups (3.5 dl) nuts (I mixed almonds and cashews)
20 large soft dates or soaked dried dates
1/2 cup (1 dl) raw cacao powder (or cocoa powder for non-raw)
Zest of one orange
2 Tbsp fresh orange juice
Pinch sea salt
Process the nuts until very finely chopped. Add the remaining ingredients and mix until a ball forms. Press into a lined baking dish (I used an 8×8 inch) and freeze for at least 20 minutes in order to get a clean cut. Cut into bars and store in the fridge! Can also be wrapped up and frozen for up to 2 months.
